Simon has worked for over twenty five years on ground investigations and contaminated land issues with much of this time focusing on ground-gas contamination and the risks to human health, property and the environment. After working for Anglo American in Namibia Simon has worked for a number of leading UK consultancies before becoming head of the Greater Manchester Geological Unit (GMGU), a multidisciplinary team managed in partnership with the University of Manchester. Here, in addition to providing consultancy services, Simon provided post-graduate teaching, training and carried out research, in collaboration with the university, on a range of contamination and environmental monitoring projects. Simon set up Ground-Gas Solutions Ltd in 2009 and the company now provides provides services to UK regulators, developers, land owners and operators in the unconventional petroleum sector. Simon is a Geology Graduate from University of Manchester and has a Masters in Engineering Geology from University of Leeds. He is a chartered engineer through the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and is a Fellow of the Geological Society..
