Geologist associated with the Energy Studies Institute in Warsaw (since 2012), as well as working at AGH University of Sciences and Technology in Cracow (since 2013). He studied geosciences and petroleum geology at Jagiellonian University in Cracow, AGH University of Sciences and Technology, and University College Dublin. In a period of 1995-2012 employee of Polish Geological Institute in Warsaw, where in 2003-2011 he was a Head of Petroleum Prospection Division. At Polish Geological Institute, which acts as a geological survey, he was responsible for shale gas and shale oil related research. Currently he also runs his own consulting company ECR.

His main subjects of professional interest are petroleum geology, with the main emphasis on unconventional oil and gas resources. Specific subjects of professional interest are geological, geochemical and geophysical characteristics of unconventional reservoirs, shale gas/oil resources estimates, environmental impact of hydrocarbon production from unconventional fields, as well as economics of shale gas/oil production. He is an author or coauthor of a few tens of scientific papers and monographs, of which some are related to petroleum geology.
